The Influence of Characteristics of Intranet Usage and Interpersonal Relation Disposition on Mental Health among Air Force Soldiers

Abstract
Purpose : This study was conducted to investigate the influence of characteristics of intranet usage and interpersonal relation disposition on mental health of soldiers.

Method : The number of participants was 631. The data were collected from November 15 to 21, 2010 by using self-report questionnaires. The instruments used were Interpersonal relation disposition inventory & SCL-90-R.
The data was analyzed by using the SPSS/Win 18.0 program.

Results : The mental health of participants correlated to 6 sub factors of interpersonal relation disposition. Competitive-aggressive, Sociable-friendliness, Ostentation-narcissistic, Rebellious-distrustful, Sympathetic-acceptable, rank and duration of the Intranet usage accounted for 35.2% of the variance in mental health.

Conclusion : The Influencing factors on mental health were Competitive-aggressive, Sociable-friendliness, Ostentation-narcissistic, Rebellious-distrustful, Sympathetic-acceptable, rank and duration of the Intranet usage. Programs which focus on mental health should be developed to be easily accessible to soldiers. Therefore an online interpersonal improvement program is recommended.
